Canada.gov.ca

May 1st Ballroom

Born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick, John Batt is the brain behind the popular instagram account @canada.gov.ca, curating stories from the obscure and often bizarre side of Canadian history and culture. The tales and memes ride that sweet line between education and entertainment, recounting yarns about queer musical resistance in '70s Toronto bars, celebrating the inspirational FERO dumpsters, and skewering greedy Galen Weston. He's taken his one-man show—a cross between a Ted Talk and a couple drinks with a good buddy—on the road all over Canada including shows in Dawson City, Yukon, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Toronto, Halifax and St. John's, Newfoundland. Hecounts Canadian music heavyweights like Springhill's Anne Murray and Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo among his loyal followers, not to mention a now-squashed beef with Jann Arden. Come see what all the fuss is about. It's not a podcast, it's not stand-up comedy. It's @canada.gov.ca.

Napalm Death

May 26 Ballroom

Napalm Death are credited as pioneers of the grindcore genre by
incorporating elements of crust punk and death metal, using a
noise-filled sound that uses heavily distorted, down-tuned guitars,
grinding overdrive bass, high speed tempo, blast beats, and vocals
which consist of incomprehensible growls, or high-pitched shrieks,
extremely short songs, fast tempos, and sociopolitical lyrics. Even
after exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy
music for nearly 40 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds
like Napalm Death. Not just the pioneers, but an enduring benchmark
for invention and fearlessness in heavy and experimental music of all
kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.

Primitive Man is an American doom metal band from Denver, Colorado,
composed of Ethan Lee McCarthy on vocals and guitar, Jonathan Campos
on bass, and Joe Linden on drums. They are known for an extremely
harsh sound – combining funeral doom, noise music, and black metal
elements – and blunt nihilistic outlook.

Toronto-based punk-rock stars, The OBGMs, are known for furiously engaging performances and unmatched energy.

Backed by critically acclaimed albums (The Ends / Sorry, It’s Over), the recent JUNO Award nominees don’t play to the crowd—they own it, weaponizing playful rage and turning non-believers into members of the sect.

Sharing stages with Sum 41, PUP, and Death From Above 1979 proves the range: stadium-ready presence with the instinct to level a small room. No matter the size, the outcome is the same- the place ignites. Faith in music is restored.

Billy Bragg

June 20 Ballroom

Galvanised in the late 70s by The Clash and an aversion to the austere policies of Margaret Thatcher, Billy Bragg set out to inspire political engagement and empathy, and he hasn’t deviated from that path. He has performed numerous benefit shows over the years - for the miners, the Labour party, CND, the jobless, the homeless and many more, and has run the Left Field political stage at Glastonbury for the last 15 years.

In 2023 Billy celebrated a remarkable 40 years as Britain’s favourite campaigning singer, songwriter. To mark this significant landmark, he released an acclaimed career-spanning box set The Roaring Forty and played to sell-out crowds around the world.

Billy Bragg has released 11 solo studio albums, three albums of Woody Guthrie lyrics set to contemporary music by Billy and Wilco (the Mermaid Avenue albums) and one album with Joe Henry. His most recent studio album, The Million Things That Never Happened came out in 2021.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

August 26 Ballroom

Don’t You Fake It 20th Anniversary Tour

With special guests Calling All Captains and Loser’s Club, don’t miss a night of high-energy performances, anthems, and the iconic sound that shaped a generation of rock fans.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus play melodic hard rock that makes room for punk and power-pop influences.

Frontman Ronnie Winter’s emotional vocals get the band classified as emo by some, but their brand of earnest, angsty rock is more closely aligned to that of groups like Hoobastank or Linkin Park.

The Losers Club instantly established themselves as one of the top bands on the pop punk scene. Blending their hard hitting songs with a sprinkle of a comedic element, The Losers Club puts on a show to remember that has people laughing, jumping, and rocking out from start to finish. With the addition of Jason Kaplan on the drums in 2022, they knew they were destined for glory with a finalized lineup.

They’ve been labelled everything from pop punk to emo to post-hardcore, but Calling All Captains cover all of that and more on (e)motion sickness, their explosive and expansive new collection. Born and still based in the suburbs of Edmonton, Alberta, the band has earned accolades in recent years with a string of progressively potent releases and their relentless approach to touring. They’ve headlined cross-Canada treks, shared stages with heavyweights like grandson, Gob, and Seaway, and performed high-profile festivals from the eclectic Electric Love to the iconic Vans Warped Tour – all propelling them to new plateaus on an impressive career trajectory.
